Alexander Wang Spring/Summer 2014 Collection // TRESemme Style Seeker Hunt - Road to New York

As you all might know, I am a big big fan of Alexander Wang. There are no words I could ever use to explain his brilliance towards his infinite understanding of sportswear inspired clothing. Everyone that knows me should have an idea of how much I love this guy. I went through a few stages of identity crisis; from the dark days as an emo person, or when I tried doing vintage. None of these things work for me, until I fell in love with Alexander Wang. He has shaped who I am now and is constantly a role model for me and for my brand, Apparel After Dark.

Last Spring/Summer 2014 collection really blew me away. I went on Style.com immediately the moment I knew that the photos from the show were up on my phone and I just became, completely, speechless. Wang completely hits it off with stunning detailing on every single piece of garment that walked down the runway. What really captivates me is how he has created a pattern from his logo by using laser cuts on leather specifically. There really isn't any other like it; from far away it looks just like another pattern but from close, you can absolutely see that it is indeed 'Alexander Wang' all over.

There is a thing about sportswear. You wear it in the gym, during a run, or you wear it at home when you're doing nothing. The thing is, the connotation it gives away definitely isn't high fashion or even anything close to that. But when you see Wang do it, it is subtle elegance at its finest.

Dion Lee Spring-Summer 2014 Collection // TRESemme Style Seeker Hunt - Road to New York

I first found out about Dion Lee when he did his capsule collection collab with CUE back in 2010. It was just a normal Saturday with my Mom, she happened to be visiting me and my sister in Melbourne for a few weeks and my mom is a big fan of CUE. So we approached the store with me not knowing that a collaboration even happened. I was just starting in fashion school and I did not know a lot of local Australian designers yet so when I knew about Dion Lee I was more than inspired; I was enlightened and somehow proud in a weird fashion-connects-everyone kinda way, to know that he is there and constantly inspiring me and everyone around the world of such unconventional ways to 3D tailoring through architectural but organic-like designs. And I have been following him ever since then.

Dion Lee's last Spring/Summer 2014 Collection was a recap of his whole career in fashion; all his past works combined into one and presented in a showcase that boasts all of his beautiful techniques on garmentsThis happened to be his first New York runway debut at Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week. As Maya Singer from Style.com puts it: "Lee, the most admired and original designer to have come out of Australia, was giving a little fanfare by way of introduction to New York." I thought that the collection was spot on and constructed beautifully. What's amazing about Dion Lee is that he creates all these ethereal pieces that just, blows my mind away, but yet, still being able to have the exact amount of restraint to make everything look effortless and wearable. To me, this is the special kind of fashion.

This outfit was inspired by this asymmetrical skirt on top of a pair of pants kinda look. I think the asymmetrical skirt adds more dimension to the outfit and layering is definitely my favourite thing to do to change things up when wearing black and white. Oh, and say hello to my beautiful baby niece, Nadine Thee!

Bali: Photo Diary

Something that I'm always grateful for are the unbelievable opportunities I get in life, one of them being this summer weekend getaway to the beautiful land of Bali, courtesy of Charles & Keith and Grazia Indonesia Magazine! There are no words to describe how giddy I was when I found out that I was one of the three lucky people to be chosen as winners, and to my surprise I got to go to Bali.

Bali has always fascinated me into a certain level of awe and respect to the point where it kind of feels like I'm away from Indonesia for a bit. It has been a few years since I last visited here and it is just crazy to know the amount of new places and hotels or resorts, I did not know where to begin with and I'm saying this in the best possible way!

Here are a few shots of my 3 days trip in Bali and again, thank you so much Charles & Keith for making my summertime sadness fade away. Really, I am the luckiest girl alive.

TRESemme Style Seeker Hunt // Road to New York MBFW

I am excited to let you guys know that I am currently in the running to win a trip along with TRESemme x Gogirl! Magazine to visit the big apple and watch the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week LIVE! I have been waiting for this competition since I found out about it last year and there is literally nothing else I can say other than thank you for inviting me TRESemme and Gogirl! Magazine!  I cannot express how excited I am to be a part of something this big and to have 1/30 or so chance to come to New York and write for them. It is a dream come true!

We were told to post OOTD's for our first challenge and sort of predict next year's trend. I choose to be black and white all the time because I want to change people's perception about monochrome being too boring at times. I think next year will be all about heavy knitwear's and high booties, a vamped up version of Normcore or Lowlux in the best possible way. This is how I put my outfits together in monochrome fashion:

Grand Indonesia 5th Anniversary x Le Sportsac: Curtis Kulig

To start with, I know I said that I would be posting quite often last week or so but it turns out life planned something else with my hours. Completely out of line, completely unprofessional, and also, I am completely sorry!

Around 2 weeks ago I was invited by Grand Indonesia Shopping Town to their first instalment of their 2 weeks long 5th Anniversary celebration, in this case an event that was co-hosted by Le Sportsac. It really baffles me when I first realised that Grand Indonesia has stood side by side the bunderan HI for 5 long years, has it really been that long? Did I really age 5 years that quickly? Hahaha

So for the period of 20th of May till' the 1st of June, Grand Indonesia along with BCA bank gave back to their customers by celebrating their 5 years anniversary in a themed celebration: 'Five Celebration of Shopping, Fashion, Dining, Music and Art!'

They celebrated Art on the 20th of May by inviting New York Artist Curtis Kulig in conjunction to his worldwide known Love Me campaign with Le Sportsac. As a painter, photographer and illustrator, Kulig's artwork can be seen in cities ranging from Berlin to Los Angeles, even till' Tokyo! He signed my iPhone with permanent marker that seems to wash away by touch (I don't know how that happened, I might have sweaty palms) but for the few days I had the signature I really felt like a complete badass.

Thank you Grand Indonesia for having me at this event along with other actual press people from magazines and such! I am honoured that I got to be one of the very few people in Indonesia to have met with Curtis and I am more than thankful just because! Another post about Grand Indonesia coming up plus much much more! Will try to post as often as I could, pinky promise: )
